And then the waiting period

Once we had completed all our paperwork and background requirements, there wqas absolutely nothing for us to do...or that we cound do. For people who live in a society where your effort often determines where wnd how you go in life, not having any power to to impact the process was, well, good for us. And humbling.

We knew we just had to wait. And we emailed our good friends Nick and Madeleine who live in rural Haiti (Camp Perrin) to keep their ear near to the ground for any adoptable children. We sensed it woudl take some time. And rightly so. We are told that the average adoption in Haiti can take, once a child has been identified for you, up to 8 months to be processed through the Haitian system. Yikes.
