My how the economics have changed.....

Once upon a time, Haiti was a substantial center of economic activity. Look at this old map I found from 1970. I understand that due to poor soil and land management, coffee as a major industry (as in this map) can no longer be supported. And with coffee missing, the map starts the look really empty. You begin to see what started happening.
