After I sent the above e-mail, I mentioned it to Laurie, who happened to bring it up when chatting with Madeleine on-line later.
Laura was smiling the while time the email was read to her, and I guess when the topic of food came up, she wanted to know whether I knew how to cook beans and rice, called 'sauce poids'. Not like Mamadou (her name for Madeleine).
For those of you who have had 'sauce poids' or similar Haitian bean recipee, you know where she is coming from. Hmmmmmm good. And I am not talking abot Campbell soup, either.
I do want to learn how to cook Haitian Rice and Beans for Laura - Sam is too young to know any different. But I will bet you dinner and a movie that Laura will also learn to love the beans and rice I have cooked for years. Not a doubt in my mind. Then we'll have both recipees.
