Fonkoze and many of its workers both suffred heavily in the big earthquake of 2010. From a human perspective I know that many, many folks (many thousands would not be an exaggeration) living in Port au Prince lost their housing to collapse, and are now living in their front yards If they have one, or in a tent provided by one of the NGOs providing them. And there were deaths, although given the magnitude of death count projected (more than 250,000 and counting) only a few of Fonkoze's (my customer) staff were affected. The organization took some physical building hits, losing both their HQ and one of their main branches. The attached photos are some inside shots of the the main branch I visited this week. I was scared to walk inside - and the eath wasn't even moving!!
