One challenge is that our medical system is SO complicated. And if it is really challenging for Laurie and me to use, how can it be for those who aren't as advataged as we? They are truly 100% at the mercfy of the system, heaven forbid.
For example, Laurie had been referred to her Primary Care Physician to handle today's tests, but her PCP could only handle some of them, so we were referred to the hopital adjacent to her office in-network for you PPO conoscenti).
Now understand, after going through two administrations of paper work now, which, while a pain in the tukus, we are ok with, of course, after we sign in and wait around, the staff is a bit confused what to do with us. Sending us in a couple different directions, eventually they called us back advising they could not help us. It is an insurance thing (which I will not get into), and I understand that. But why did it have to take this long to show? If we had been advisd as such earlier this could have been avoided. Patients don't need added stess.
Some of the complexity is the nature of the beast; I understand that. But I think improved patient advocacy might help here - Doctors ofices learning to proactively communciate better with their patients might go a long way.
