Tuesday Dinner 9th

I know I owe a good post tonight. Before sitting down to the computer last night I took a bath a never quite recovered. :)

Well, here's the deal on the biopsy - you know we went to the hospotal pretty much all day yesterday, Monday, to meet with everyone involved with the results. The news was not that great. These are my words but I think fairly reflect what we were told.

Tumors malignancy is generally rated on a scale of 1-4 (one being NO risk, four being extremely fast growing, LOTS of malignancy, etc...). There are other factors, but the number is the biggie. Laurie's tumor is a 3; that worries me.

3's are treated just like a 4 - in fact they call a 3, a wannabe 4. Why?
Even with treatment, malignancy is expected to act devious and try to grow and mess stuff up. Thus when there is any amount, as with a 3 or 4, they are treated the same. The 4s are just that much worse and need a longer, higher dose treatment. But with the 3 they still expect, over time, it will grown back. The quick action on the chemo and the radiation will act to widen the window between now and then. Defer it, so to speak. Great.

So we are not looking through any rosy coloroed glasses at this, and yes, we were really downcast last night.

Did I happen to say I am SO glad we invested time in our marriage?! Little did Neil Diamond know when he crooned the words, that when your love is built on the rock, there isn't anything that can shake it!

Once we get over our initial period of mourning we will take up our swords and get aggressive. We set our initial planning meeting back at the hospital for Friday, so a few days will be fine. We know this is the Lord's battle - it has to be. What can we do? So we will fight it every possible way we can! And we know you will be with us along the way.
