We watched the Sound of Music a couple of days ago when it was on TV. If that seems a bit old-hat, I plead guilty. I'll watch it as often as it is on. To this day, watching the Sound of Music, for me, rates right up there with...Guns of Navaronne, Dirty Dozen, La Vita e Bella, Raiders of the Lost Ark (I), Holy Grail, etc... you get the picture.
Scenery, intrigue, plot, humor, love, moral, etc..etc...Even after all these years I still get teary eyes every time I watch it. Tough guy, I know!
I also realized for the first time this year that I visited Salzburg, Austria with my school class in 1972, only 7 years after it was filmed. That's like I'm almost famous, but I am not sure why.... If only I realized then how much history I was being exposed to! As an 11 year old I was more interested more mundane things like what's for lunch.
